Fridays at St. Paul’s
Fridays at St. Paul’s is a new concert series starting in the 2010-2011 program year. These will be evening concerts or recitals by professional musicians or musical groups. It is anticipated that they will begin at 7:00 p.m. and last 90 minutes (including an intermission). Admission will be $10 per person at the door.
There will be one Friday at St. Paul’s concert in the Fall of 2010 and two in the Spring of 2011. The first and last concerts have been scheduled and the second is in negotiations!
Nov. 5, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. – Ceud Mìle Fàilte
| Ceud Mìle Fàilte performs some traditional and mostly original tunes by Paul Kirk, which are inspired by Scottish, Irish, French Canadian, Cape Breton, and 17th century English folk dance music. Members of the group are Elizabeth Crowe (cello, banjo, spoons), Paul Kirk, Jr. (fiddle), William Krejci (12-string guitar), Erica Tompkins (fiddle, percussion), and Julie Wesolek (flute, penny whistle, piccolo). |

The Highland String Quintet, a group of Cleveland Orchestra and other professional strings players, have been signed for a performance to be offered on Friday, March 26, 2011. The same ensemble appeared at a Brown Bag Concert two years ago and performed a program including pieces by Haydn, Mozart and Dvorák. We look forward to a wonderful offering from them. As we receive more information about their performance at Fridays at St. Paul’s we will post it here. Check here again. |
May 20, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. – The Oberlin Choristers Irish Tour Choir
| Oberlin Choristers is a community-based choral program for children Kindergarten through twelfth grades. Based in Oberlin, Ohio, the Choristers draw most of their singers from northern Ohio, particularly Lorain County. The Choristers train children in choral music and vocal performance, provide them with an opportunity to improve their vocal and social skills in a variety of choir settings, and give children an opportunity to perform in concerts both close to home and in some of the world’s greatest musical venues. It is the Choristers mission both to provide an intense and enjoyable musical training program and to create in its singers an appreciation for the arts and the importance of vibrant arts programs in the community. Performing at St. Paul’s Parish will be the Choir which will tour Ireland in June-July 2011. This concert is a fund-raiser for the tour. |
